Consultancy Services
Intico offers a wide range of consultancy services in a diverse range of fields of expertise. We have a diverse team of professional staff who have, on average, more than twenty (20) years of experience in their field of expertise. To support our professional team, we have accredited laboratory metallurgical and analysis facilities.
Within the Intico group, we have established fields of technical excellence that are complimentary to the inspection and testing services we provide. With professional staff of relevant experience, we can offer a single point of contact for problem solving services. Key aspects of our consultancy services are outlined below:
Design Verification & NDT Monitoring Services
Intico South Australia is AS / NZS ISO 9001 accredited by NCSI for the provision of Design Verification & the development of NDT monitoring services. The design verification can include assessment of in-progress or completed designs to the requirements of the relevant Australian Standards. We are also able to check overseas standards against the requirements of the Australian Standard, IE: ASME to Australian Standards.
We are also able to develop the appropriate NDT monitoring service required to enable plant owners to confidently monitor and assess their plant. This will reduce the chance of any costly unplanned outages, repairs and replacements while improving forward planning for maintenance.
Failure Analysis
In providing failure analysis services, we are conscious of the ongoing need to perform competent and cost competitive analyses and to provide practical recommendations to reduce the likelihood of repeated failures.
The costs associated with a failure of a critical component or equipment in a plant can be staggering, particularly if the component failure results in consequential damage or production losses. In events that involve injury or loss of life, litigation and safety quickly become a major issue. The importance of failure analysis in correctly identifying how and why a critical component failed cannot be over emphasized.
With our in-depth knowledge and, with more than 100 years of combined technical and industrial experience, Intico's team can identify the mechanism and causes of component failure, whether they are design, materials, manufacturing, or operational issues.
Finite Element Analysis
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an essential tool in engineering design, manufacturing operations and maintenance. Through the FEA simulation different loads, heat transfer conditions or geometrical configurations can be examined. The analysis is applicable for assessing a wide range of engineering systems, including structures, vessels, machinery and welds.
We use FEA as a very effective tool in Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics analyses for assessing the fitness for service and the potential remaining life of objects and to investigate failures. To this end, FEA is often combined with other offered services such as strain gauging, NDT, vibration analysis and metallurgical assessment. This integrated approach is applicable to a wide range of industries where stress, thermal and vibration problems exist.
In addition to the classic linear elastic static and dynamic analyses, we use FEA to investigate geometrical and material non-linearity, transient dynamics, buckling, steady state and transient heat flow, plastic flow and contact.
Inspection and Test Procedures
The Intico Group is a Quality Endorsed Organisation, with numerous technical accreditations for inspection and testing in addition to maintaining an endorsed Quality Management system. We can assist you, to formulate your Inspection and testing Procedures in the following fields.
- Welding Inspection / Supervision, Coating Inspection
- QA/QC, Third party expediting and fabrication Inspection
- Hydrostatic & Pressure Testing, Proof load testing
- NDT
- In Service Equipment, CVI Inspections, IBC and ISO Container Certification
- Mechanical services, Engineering verification services
- Heat Treatment
- Tank inspection
- Corrosion / Erosion detection
Metallurgy
We provide consulting metallurgy expertise across a wide spectrum of materials and applications. A selection of these services includes:
- Identification and characterization of material composition, microstructure and properties.
- Determination of the effects of alloying additions and impurities on the microstructure and properties of metals and alloys.
- Analysis of solidification and phase transformation phenomenon.
- Advice on heat Treatment (stress relieving, annealing, normalizing, hardening and tempering).
- Surface engineering (wear, corrosion and fatigue resistance).
- Welding of metals, dissimilar metals, weld repairs.
- Materials failure analysis and prevention.
- Product testing, destructive and non-destructive.
- Materials selection advice.
- Determination of the effect of process variables on product properties.
- Establishment of fitness for purpose criteria.
- Field Metallography services (Replication).
Welding Technology and Procedures
We have developed a large database of weld procedures that can be referenced for use for construction or repair work. A number of our clients have also adopted our weld procedure database as their internal standard reference. The database is being constantly updated to include revised and new weld procedures.
In addition, we provide a complete service of weld procedure development. This service extends from the engineering design of the weld to the selection of consumables and process, qualification of the weld procedure and qualification of welders.
Design of welds for exotic materials and specialized weld methods such as temper bead are included in our scope of capability. We develop ITP’s and offer a service of weld supervision and QA.
Together with strategic partners, we have access to specialist skills in advanced and novel welding methods. We provide welding technology services to fabricators and plant owners in cases where unique, difficult or repair welds are required. This includes welding issues associated with cast materials, high-alloy steels, and service damaged materials. With our knowledge and experience base, we can package up a complete welding solution for difficult tasks.
Concrete Consultancy Services
We have the ability to assess and examine a large range of concrete structures. We are able to conduct field assessment for Hardness and Reinforcement Bar finding with either electronic imaging systems or radiography. Intico also has the skills and ability to conduct core sampling, crack monitoring and assessment with the required technical support for all your consultancy requirements.
