Pipeline Integrity & Inspection
Within today’s Pipeline Construction Industry it is required that 100% or a nominated percentage of all circumferential butt welds within the newly constructed pipeline are examined via Radiographic Inspection techniques.
Intico Engineering Services have devoted its efforts to advancements in the production of pipelines within the Australian and Asian Pipeline Industries. These efforts have resulted in assisting clients to build pipelines quicker, safer and with major cost reductions due to reduced construction periods.
These achievements can be partly attributed to our purpose built Mobile 4WD Inspection Laboratories, Mobile 4WD Darkrooms, Offshore/Onshore High Speed Processing Laboratories, the latest in X-ray Internal Crawlers and Radiation Shielding Devices allowing zero radiation emission from either the x-ray unit or Gamma camera. The new Mobile Laboratories allow the minimum Inspection Crew to complete up to 300 average pipe joints per normal pipeline construction day, which results in a major cost reduction compared to previous inspection methods. With the new radiation shielding devices, pipeline construction lines can work uninterrupted during radiography exposures, with no risk of radiation exposure. For High Speed Offshore and Onshore Pipelines, the innovative ‘White Box’ allows rapid film processing enabling the complete inspection process to be completed in less than five minutes.
Corrosion Monitoring on existing pipelines can also be achieved with the use of our ‘Rapid Ultrasonic B-Scan’ (external) inspection system, capable of covering one linear metre of pipe (up to 8” Dia) per five minutes. With the added advantage of the Mobile Laboratories, we are able to access all terrains to ensure the pipeline is fit and safe for continued use.
